Global Studies is about social transformation and justice. We combine rigorous academic inquiry with experiential learning through<\/b> <b>research and practice, to prepare our students for a future in which they are oriented towards<\/b><b> improving existing systems \u2014 locally and globally \u2014 and gain the knowledge and experience to change them.<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Global Studies teaches students to <\/span><b>critically examine power structures<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><b>analyze pressing issues<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> while introducing them to contexts, causal dynamics, and perspectives far from daily headlines. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Global Studies students learn to <strong>t<\/strong><\/span><b>hink across disciplines and<\/b><b>&nbsp;<\/b><b>scales<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, to understand our own implication in how things came to be and to <\/span><b>pursue innovative responses<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to seemingly intractable problems. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Our <\/span><b>faculty <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">includes practitioners in a variety of academic disciplines as well as professions including <\/span><b>advocacy, community organizing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and <\/span><b>international law<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Experiential learning<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is an integral part of Global Studies, and the major creates opportunities for students to apply their knowledge through <\/span><b>internship, volunteer, and fieldwork experiences<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in New York and abroad.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The program also offers unique opportunities for sharing experiences and coursework with urban studies, environmental studies, food studies, and foreign languages. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students with strong academic standing can apply for an <\/span><b>accelerated Bachelors\/Masters <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">option leading to graduate degrees in International Affairs, Politics, Urban Policy, Media Studies, among others.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In learning to <\/span><b>transform ideals into action at the global level<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, students prepare for<\/span><b> careers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in the non-profit sector, public service, international organizations, global media, development, the arts, research organizations, education, and law, as well as graduate study in the social sciences, and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Bachelor\u2019s Program and Eugene Lang students can declare Global Studies as their major. &nbsp;For more information about Global Studies at The New School, including updates on events and courses contact&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:globalstudies@newschool.edu\">globalstudies@newschool.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\" \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Major &amp;
